Tech and WVU were tightly partnered until 1994


At that point WVU had to grasp all-sports membership in the Big East (which satisfied their objective to be fully aligned with the eastern schools in Division I) even if it meant leaving us behind to fend for ourselves. And at least publicly I never heard anyone from Virginia Tech utter a critical remark about WVU for doing what they had to do.

Which makes it ironic that so many of their fans conveniently forgot about that whole situation nine years later and many still continue to bear ill will towards us for what we had to do with the ACC.
