The key date was 1994 - That was when there were real negotiations to


break the BEFC away from the basketball schools. Instead BE gave Rutgers and WVU full membership, left Temple and VT with FB only.

So, it's,1994 UConn is still in D1AA. BEFC goes alone.
VT, WVU, Miami, SYR, Ruts, TEMPLE, Pitt, BC.

They immediately raid CUSA for Louisville and ECU, CUSA's two best programs at the time.

Come 2003, BEFC makes a run at FSU, and one other ACC school of FSU's choice. Let's say Clemson - remember this is Tommy Bowden era Clemson, not Dabo Swinney National Champion era Clemson.

North: BC, SYR, Pitt, Temple, Rutgers, WVU
South: FSU, Miami, Clemson, ECU, VT, LV

Somehow, ESPN makes this financially viable. Rutgers hires Greg Schiano, Temple hires Al Golden and the league is competitive top to bottom.

2010 - BEFC expands again - They don't bother with the ACC - Take USF and UCF, making the BEFC the destination conference for Florida high school students. ESPN showers more money on the conference, and NFL drafts boatloads of BEFC players

North: BC, SYR Pitt, Temple, Rutgers, WVU, VT
South: FSU, Miami, Clemson ECU, UCF, USF, LV
