I never said that about Army vs. Navy. FYI, my eldest brother graduated from the USMA at West Point and everyone he has spoken to over the years believes that Army shouldn't join the Power 5. Some even think Army would be better served playing at the FCS level. Army doesn't even want to play in a football conference after their CUSA experience.

Army's success is all about their new coach and the military relaxing height and weight standards in the military academies. What you said simply isn't true. Army went to bowl games before TSL had the CRB. Don't spread falsehoods. Army went to four bowls before there was even a TSL. Army is the only other college team that I follow. What I did say was that Army had a disadvantage because Army grads were more likely to see combat than Navy or Air Force grads unless they were Navy Seals of Marines. Most would be at sea or in the air. During the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Army football didn't do well. Not many high school football recruits wanted to graduate from USMA and then get shipped out to Iraq or Afghanistan as officers. Between bad coaching and the conflicts in the Middle East, Navy and Air Force had advantages over Army in the first decade or so of the 2000's. I never said that Army couldn't beat a SEC team. Army would be better than Vanderbilt but the rest of the SEC programs would have better players. Army would never win the SEC East or West. I could see them having a 7-5 or 8-4 seasons during their best years. 5-7 or 6-6 would be more likely.

I will say that you were one of the biggest defenders of John Swofford and the ACC's mix of public and private universities. I always have felt that that was the ACC's weakness. Now you have flipped and say those who disagree with you are thinking like Swofford and living in the past.

I will agree that you are more concerned about the ACC's future than I am. I understand your concern and frustration, but what can you do about it? Not much unless you become a lobbyist for the ACC. There's not anything you can do. Have more faith in Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and less faith in the ACC. Tech needs to look out for its best interests, not the ACC's. Tech will be fine when all the dust settles. The SEC will take us in a heartbeat. If Tech can achieve AAU status, the Big Ten will find us attractive. Just thank God that you aren't a BC or Wake fan. Those are the ones who need to be worried.
