Assuming the SEC is going to expand to 16


then it first has to decide if it wants to move Alabama and Auburn to the East Division, so it can preserve the Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia rivalries. If so, then that will force the SEC to look west. Oklahoma and Texas are probably at the top of the SEC's wishlist. You can scratch off Texas for a couple of different reasons. If the SEC gets Oklahoma, then it may be forced to take Oklahoma State too. If it can get away with just taking Oklahoma, then the SEC might take a look at Kansas. Kansas would give the conference another bball school which has been approving over the years. By adding Kansas the SEC would have a monopoly over the "Border War" (Kansas-Missouri rivalry). So for "Rivalry Week" in football the matchups would look like this:

East Division
KY-L'ville
TN-Vandy
USCe-Clemson
UGA-GT
UF-FSU
Bama-Auburn

West Division
Ole Miss-Miss State
LSU-TAMU or LSU-Ark
OU-Ark or OU-TAMU
Kansas-Missouri

The SEC probably views Iowa St as the last option.
