I agree there would be an attempt at some point for an ACC-B12 merger


Although depending on how iron clad the GOR is, then that could kill the merger talks. Now I am assuming that the ACC manages to get Texas, OU, OU Lite, Texas Lite, and 1-2 more Texas schools. WVU could still be on the outside looking in when the the music stops. Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC aren't interested in the leftovers (i.e. Iowa St, Kansas, Kansas St, and WVU). If those 4 schools decide to add at least 4 schools so the Big XII remains as a conference, then could that be enough to keep the GOR on life support? If yes and the potential death of the Big XII happens with at least 5 years to go on the current contract (example purposes only), then the 6 schools looking to leave may have to re-think their decision. If they stay then the Big XII becoming the Big XVIII may become more of a reality especially if Congress is placing pressure on the power conferences to include as many "larger" public schools as possible.

I realize things are early and there are a whole lot of unknowns (aka moving parts) that still need to fall into place. However, if the thread is going to look at all sides, then it probably should look at this scenario at some point too.
