Can't imagine the SEC getting hung up on AAU status.


OK if you says so, but only about 30% of the SEC is in the AAU. And the AAU lately is hung up on Medical Research and Medical Schools. Syracuse is exploring the possibility of opening Medical School to position itself to return to the AAU. Nebraska blamed not having a Medical School as the reason they were kicked out, and the fact that the AAU discounted agricultural research. It's the Big Ten that is hung up on AAU. Maybe the SEC has become hung up on it, but that is so not related to athletics it's ridiculous.

None of the choices of Kansas, Iowa State, or Iowa are strong football. They all happen to be good at men's basketball. That's something that the SEC is in desperately bad shape over. They've hired Mike Tranghese of all people to help recommend ways to improve it.

As for Director's Cup, the SEC might not care about it, but they make sure their media releases let everyone know how well they are doing every step of the way.
