I would agree with that assessment. Even though people held their noses


when mentioning Rutgers and Temple, the football program seemed better than the ACC's product at the time.

If the BEFC schools had broken away to form their own conference, then it could have been interesting to see what UConn would have done. Would it have made the switch to DI-FBS or remained in DI-FCS like what Georgetown and Villanova have decided to do for now? If the breakaway conference had been able to lure Penn State, then would it have remained at 8, 9 or 10 members (depending on what happened to Rutgers and/or Temple)? Would it have added members to get to at least 12 so it could play a conference championship game in football? If the conference decided to expand, then it could have been interesting to see which schools would have been the target. Would Clemson, FSU, and maybe NC State have been willing to leave the ACC to join this conference? If not, then how appealing would schools like UCF, Cincy, ECU, L'ville, Memphis, or USF be to the conference? It definitely would have been interesting to see how things would have played out.
