The issue though is that whether it is an 8 team playoff or 12 team playoff


that the automatic bids would look like this:

P5s = 5
G5s = 1 (even though there are 5 G5 conferences)

If college football is going to have the same playoffs as other sports, then all 10 FBS conferences should receive an automatic bid to it. However, that would mean less spots for the P5s and the P5s don't want to share the money with the G5s. The G5s know they can't form their own playoffs because the demand and sponsors won't be there. Unfortunately, most people would view the G5 Playoffs in the same light they view the NIT compared to the NCAA Tournament.
