Depending on how things play out, it may not take JMU as long as you think
to get promoted to the top tier. If JMU starts out in the 4th tier, then it would take a minimum of 3 years before JMU ended up in the 1st tier. Assuming JMU doesn't get relegated after the first year in the 1st tier, it is likely JMU will be hovering around the relegation zone (15th-17th in EPL). Most of the clubs at that level don't add any "value" to EPL's TV contract. Instead, the value is defined by the 7 big clubs plus the 3-4 clubs (i.e. West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester City, etc.) that consistently remain in EPL for multiple seasons and are typically in condition for a Top 10 finish most seasons. That same structure would likely happen in a college football league. Heck it is already happening now with the various conference contracts.
