Finebaum was trying too hard but, I think that was more his shtick as the SEC mouthpiece/shill. The TX/OU situation, in my opinion, was the Longhorns and Sooners recognizing Big12 was never going to get them money wise and prestige wise to SEC and Big 10. They made a call, with knowledge the winds were blowing toward an expanded playoff, that the SEC was more than happy to take. When Sankey told ESPN they were as happy as a pig in $%&+, because with a two year exclusive negotiating window with the CFP they had a chance to lock up a premier property unopposed and rid themselves of the financial albatross known as the LHN . That is still the goal it just may cost them a little more now to make the Big 12 disappear and to work out the CFP details. I have said it before and I will repeat it now this doesn't go down this way if Jim Delaney and/or Swofford are not out the door or on the way out the door but, Sankey and Swarbrick were essentially tigers stalking a couple of buffalos in Bowlsby and Thompson.
