If there is only one playoff spot is available to the SEC


Finebaum says, "the SEC has their playoff spot, why do they care [what anyone else does]".

If the SEC didn't care, Finebaum wouldn't be on the radio talking about it. I can assure you their financial calculus includes way more than one playoff spot. If there is only one spot, they are screwed.

Remember when the SEC and Big 12 jumped out in front during the BCS and bagged the Cotton Bowl, leaving the ACC with just one guaranteed good bowl?
The potential alliance may be doing their own version of that in terms of what will be showcased post-season. Maybe even pre-season as well.

If there is no agreement to change the playoff format, then the format will remain the same or there won't be one at all. So back to the BCS?
