Yeah you might shop around for options. But if you're going to die without the best treatment, price is not a significant concern. What the hell good is your money when you're dead? (Also, That's another way the "padding" costs go up- people die before they can pay their bill.)
Ideally, I would see health care as a utility. Subsidized by everyone, regardless of how much you use. A pro truck driver or traveling salesman putting 70,000 miles on yheir car uses the interstate a lot more than I do. But in a purely capitalistic model, those jobs wouldnt exist. The cost of tolls or other barriers to travel would wipe them out. We're clearly not there yet as a society to consider health care a utility like water, power, sewer, roads, etc. [Post edited by Hokie madman at 06/29/2017 9:46PM]
