The P65 needs to breakaway and play by their own set of rules, not that they do not already, and the SDSUs and ECUs of the world need to drop down to another division and compete for championships. Ego is killing those latter schools, but IIWII right now for them. I'm not heartbroken for SDSU.

I recently earned a graduate degree from Emory U. It's a top20 U in the country. The last few decades they've received two of the largest university donations ever from Coca Cola. And a stipulation of their accepting that money was that Emory would not grant athletic scholarships. They do not today. Athletics at Emory is akin to what you would find at a large high school or an intramural program, though they've won HUNDREDS of Division III Nattys. They do not attempt to compete with Georgia Tech or UGA and nobody cares.

Obviously sports at Clemson are much different than sports at the Citadel. All parties just need to acknowledge that and then make rules accordingly. I have no problem with these college football and basketball celebrities making money at Clemson or Virginia Tech. They put tens of thousands of butts in seats and millions of eyeballs tuning in on TV. That does not happen at SDSU, the Citadel, or Emory. We all know that. Let's not turn a blind eye to it or pretend.

Furthermore, a new P65 could create a system that at least in some ways levels the playing field. They could enforce rules when it comes to receiving illigal benefits or admissions. They wouldn't be living in fear of the bigdogs as the current NCAA is.

Anyhow, let's just get everything out in the open, acknowledge the obvious, and make rules that all parties can and will follow. It would remove the sleaze factor that's present right now in NCAA sports. I would much rather players and GAs be paid a reasonable amount up front at money making programs than for them to rely on sleeping in locker rooms and receiving hundred dollar handshakes.
