I do think government involvement would make matters worse.


However, I am not sure if the involvement would automatically lead to increased cost. If Congress decided that colleges/universities can no longer claim not-for-profit tax status as long as they continue to maintain these huge athletic budgets, then are schools more likely to continue with the current "business as usual approach" or implement major reform so they can maintain their current tax status?
