Because we all know that America is great at taking the long view, right?


I can agree that it would be cheaper to have cheap oil, and while we do, spend the 'savings' in all kinds of green energy development, but you know that won't happen. Someone will point out "Why are we spending billions on developing green energy when gas is 45 cents a gallon!!!"

If what you suggest was possible to make happen, then please explain the last 30 years when we didn't have the will to do it?
