It wouldn't surprise me if the P5s held firm to the proposal where the 5 P5


conferences received automatic bids and only 1 automatic bid to the highest ranked G5 conference. While the G5s held firm to the proposal where the Top 6 highest ranked conference champions received automatic bids regardless of their affiliation. If that is the impasse, then I would be surprised if either group is willing to change their position between now and when the current contract expires. Also, it could make things interesting and even ugly as the group tries to figure out what the playoffs will look like for the next contract. At this point, I would say that all eyes will be on the P5s to see what ends up being their next move. Do the P5s continue working with the G5s even if it makes keeping the same playoff structure vs. dissolve the College Football Playoffs LLC so they can do their own thing and risk whatever ramifications come with that decision?
