They are very similar. It is a question of Tampa or Orlando.


Which of the two markets would serve the ACC the best. Tampa at this point is larger than Orlando. But they are not that far apart 11th vs 18th.

USF offers the benefit of a well established Medical School (i.e. since 1971). UCF's Medical School is very new. This may tilt appeal a little more toward USF for research collaboration. I don't look at these as directional schools any more than I do UCLA. I think they are not named correctly. University of Tampa or University of Orlando would be better names for them IMO.

But both of them are large with growing alumni bases that will prove valuable for some conference. At one point the ACC was trying hard to grow market share in Florida. That's why the Football Championship was in Jacksonville and in Tampa. Either one of these would help with that.
