The argument for UConn is media market.

The Hartford-New Haven media market, which is most of Connecticut, is the largest media market in the country with no professional sports franchise in it. It is a very similar situation to Louisville. Hartford-New Haven is ranked 30, and Louisville is ranked 50. With a television network this is what is important. New England is also a region that the ACC has decided to market the league in. To do that we need to have Connecticut in the mix. Boston College is not enough by itself.

UConn football has been competitive with a Fiesta Bowl appearance, so football can succeed at Connecticut with the right coach. The facilities at UConn are not an issue, and it is an athletic department with $72 million in revenue which would be within the range of ACC schools.
