Blah Blah Blah. Just add teams people watch on TV and in stadiums.
As someone pointed out below, if it were all about TV markets then we would be clamoring for St. Johns' being added to the ACC right now. It's a factor, but an increasingly irrelevant factor.
And again, there are plenty of exceptions out there.
It's pretty dang simple. Who are the teams people will pay money to watch? Who has a fanbase that will buy tickets as well as cable network subscriptions? Additionally, who will the fans of other teams pay to see?
UCONN has a bit of a bball rep, but their football fandom is pretty low. I will say that they are better in that department than any city based commuter school options. and they are certainly better options than any private school additions, other than ND of course.
