And if ND joins without Navy, as we've discussed here the USC game could be set up on the west coast every year at a neutral site. The Stanford game isn't as important to ND as the USC game.

ND doesn't have a robust history in the South or the Mid-Atlantic. Entering those areas with ND football has been a stated goal and a stated benefit that the ACC brings to ND. The states on the Atlantic Coast in the South and Mid-Atlantic are some of the fastest growing in the United States. That demographic situation is very much noticed by ND.

With Navy in the ACC and the USC/Stanford series continuing, ND would still have 2 games to do with what they want. And the ACC would approve using ACC games for the Shamrock Series. With those 2 games, ND can set up series with a Big Ten team, a Texas team, another service academy, or whomever they want.

ND would lose nothing by being in the ACC for football. They would actually gain the opportunity to complete for division and conference championships, and ultimately put themselves in better position for a national championship than they are in today. Declaring games with Cuse, Wake Forest, Duke, or whomever as bad games isn't correct. ND was already playing all of them before ever being a part of the ACC.
