ND may have seen its last championship in any event

ND has only won four NC's since 1949 (1966, 1973, 1977 and 1988).

It has been 28 years since the last one.

Is this really that huge of a factor in reality?

Enough of one to jettison 128 years of an ND brand? I doubt it.

I think that this is just the latest argument people latch on to to convince themselves that it is inevitable that ND must join a football conference.

Similar arguments (Big Ten Network money, the Big East folding, the alleged death of the ACC, etc... have been advanced as failed attempts in the past.
