does not come from the same pot as scholarships, salaries, booster donations (to the school), and revenues from ticketing/media rights. That is all property of the school, or the school's Foundation. NIL money is not coming from the school itself. Not sure where this mindset is coming from exactly (not specifically picking on your statement). At no point is the school going to be monetarily involved with NIL dollars. Now, most schools are going to be developing NIL education/access to information, and pathways to handling NIL. But the dollars are not coming from the same spot. The operation of an entire athletic department cannot, all of the sudden, be redirected from operations, to cover some athletes NIL deals.....otherwise, there is not a properly functioning athletic department.

To add to this, the individual donor (considering their priority and access to seats/parking) is not going to be giving up donating to the school and getting official credit for said dollars. That eliminates their ability to get their seats and parking where they wish. And some of the scholarship dollars are restricted, from endowments, to go specifically to athletes in certain sports. That money, if not used for scholarships, cannot be re-allocated to another area (such as NIL).
