National interest is situational like GA/AL this year or Clem/ND last

but, IMO, for a conference championship to be successful it's core is being able to maximize regional interest in it's home region. If FL is playing OU in the SEC championship game, it might have a little more national interest, but the SEC fans aren't likely as interested as if it were one of the original SEC teams.

That is one of the ACC Championship's problems. No one cares outside the fans of the 2 teams playing unless it has CFB implications, then ACC fans still don't really care that much. ACC FB just doesn't have rivalries that people in the ACC footprint care about. Then when we play BC or Wake plays Pitt. no one cares and no one shows up and we look like the 2nd rate FB conference we have always been. (Edit: yes, rivalries do exist for sure, but the interest in them is the 2 schools, they don't have rivalries that the whole conference cares about like the SEC does).
