If you re-read my post, then you will see I suggested moving

2 teams (Alabama and Auburn) to the East Division so Mizzou could move to the West Division. Moving 2 teams from the West Division to the East Division is all that is required so Mizzou can move to the West Division.

East: S. Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Tenn, Vandy, and Kentucky = 8

West: Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU, Texas, TAMU, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mizzou = 8

Once the SEC switches to these divisions it can eliminate the protected cross-division games because its 2 most important cross-divisional rivalries (Alabama vs. Tenn and Auburn vs. Georgia) would now be divisional games. Those 2 games are the only reason the SEC created the protected cross-division games in the first place.
