Have been on the fence for well over a year about buying a new bike.

I didn't want to climb onto a bike after the Trek Challenge last summer. I was beat up from riding 600+ miles. I want a bike that is comfortable if I finally pull the trigger, so it was time to look for those features that will keep me in the saddle longer, and provide max enjoyment. I started looking at comfort features. I wouldn't mind a slightly narrower rim, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with what I've read. It has a more relaxed geometry (from a race bike), and both front and rear IsoSpeed dampening. That, along with Trek's lifetime warranty on their frames has about sealed the deal. I still need to go ride one, but I like what I've read so far.

I'm too old to worry about going fast. I'm OK with a slightly heavier bike if it keeps me in the saddle longer. Heck, this bike is still ~3 lbs lighter than my old Panasonic.

I thought about the next step up to the 600 group, but the price difference was just too much for me to rationalize away. I can always upgrade any component down the road. You can find killer deals on Shimano components on Amazon. I just need to record the items that are found on the next level bike so I know what 600 components to buy...lol
