I think between the geometry and the IsoSpeed frame, I should be able to ride far longer and more often than I can on my old 30+ year old bike. Don't think it was made for comfort.

Upgrading to the 600 group is $900. I think I could buy every Shimano 600 component from Amazon for less than $900 and do it myself...lol From what I've read, will probably change out a few things early (like upgrading to the 600 cassette). I can always upgrade components if I feel it needs better equipment. I've never ridden a bike with disk brakes, but I feel that's going to be significantly better than what I have now.

Congrats on the ride from LA to Boston. I have a good friend who also did a cross country ride, and I'm just amazed anyone can do that.
