Ive seen some hospice related commentary that talks about the subject


It seems that a dying person can will themselves through excruciating pain if they believe they need to be alive for a reason. If the reason is illogical (waiting for a dead loved one to arrive so they can say goodbye), the commentary suggested that its ok to talk with the person and assure them that its ok to lay down that burden and pass in peace
