Until Texas A&M left for the SEC, Texas was always keen on going west

I talked to several Texas grads and they liked the idea of being associated with the 4 Pac 10 (at the time) California schools. Texas felt that they would fit in academically and athletically with USC, UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. It was almost a given that if Texas left the Big 12 that they would join the Pac 10. That almost happen in 2011.

Since 2012, there's been more talk of Texas going east and being associated with Duke, UVA, UNC, . Plus, like you said in your post, Texas would have more power in either the ACC or Pac 12 (14-16?) than they would in the SEC or Big 10. Notre Dame's full membership in the ACC would make the ACC much more attractive to Texas. Right now, Notre Dame doesn't want any part of conference full membership. I just hope the ACC doesn't offer Texas the same deal.
