Interesting because it could be a fine line between rejecting a
candidate for valid reasons vs. discriminating against that same candidate. Let's assume that ODU wanted to join the ACC. Let's also assume UVA and VT both refused to support ODU for legitimate reasons (i.e. academics, research, etc). They may have even go as far as to check with the other members to see what their views are about ODU joining the conference. Most likely ODU would be told by someone "You are not a good fit for the ACC" and they may have even expanded upon that statement to give supporting reasons. Where things could start to get fuzzy is when a rejection goes from being just a rejection to discrimination.
One of the reasons given for why the ACC doesn't want WVU in the conference is WVU doesn't meet the ACC's academic requirements. Even though it may be a valid reason isn't that also discrimination since the conference doesn't want any members that are academically below a certain threshold?
