Not as valuable nationally as Notre Dame. No.

But BYU football is followed throughout the Mormon community, which is strong in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, and California. They also bring a lot of fans to games in Charlottesville, so they have Mormons in the east as well.

I would just want BYU football in the ACC. The ACC could schedule a handful of games each year with BYU in other sports, but having them do a full ACC schedule for stuff other than football is not geographically practical. They would stay in the West Coast Conference and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for the rest of their sports.

I would imagine BYU's ultimate goal would be to join the PAC12. So I would make this a contract relationship for a term like we have with Notre Dame. It would have a term that could be renewed. But I would not subject them to the exit fee. So technically they would remain independent, but they would do a full ACC schedule for football and participate in the post season like everyone else. They would play a full 8 game schedule, which to date Notre Dame is unwilling to do.

My objective here is to get to 16 so that we could have better scheduling, and both ACC schools and BYU would get exposure in other regions of the country. Since BYU is a major brand, ESPN would show most of the games I'm sure. I would think BYU would approve of this since then they would be in a Power 5 and eligible for all that comes with that regarding football.
