if they agreed to any G5 expansion at this point. The ACC's perception problem is bad enough already on the football side even with the success of Clemson and FSU the last 3 years. Add two more that would be no better than middle of the pack and that get worse, IMO.

The ACC is not in dire straits to expand like another unnamed conference is right now. There are a lot of grumbling from both Oklahoma and UT fans about the B12 expanding with current G5 teams. I am still of the belief that Boren knew exactly what he was doing when he shot his mouth off about expansion.

Boren knew that the three things he threw out, expansion, dedicated network, and a championship game would not all be met when he said it. The CCG he will get. The network they cannot afford unless UT basically gives up a ton of guaranteed revenue, and that isn't happening. If they agree to "make UT whole", the discontent at every other team cutting UT a check off the top of their own profits will grow at an alarming rate, plus who are they going to attract to expand into a mess like that?

And expansion? The teams that would be the most attractive to them aren't available and might not even want to play in flyover country, and UT has made it clear they do not want to subsidize a G5 until the new member gets up to B12 standards. Houston is a non starter because of their location for the B12.

Patience is what the ACC needs most right now in regards to expansion.
