16 teams would be far more regionally based...


The irony is that a 10 or 12 team conference requires you to play nearly every team, which fills up your schedule. With a 16 team conference you can play the 3 teams in your mini-division annually. For example, VT could play only Virginia, West Virginia and Louisville every year. That sounds great.

Then, rotate all the other conference teams in every other year to keep the schedule fresh. Far better than any alternative I've heard so far.
