The Maryland settlement was a fixed amout of damages, exit fee, specified in the ACC bylaws. No GoR existed then.
Imagine if there is a "composition clause" in the Big12 media deal that comletely voids the contract if Texas or Oklahoma leaves. When OK leaves, they could be found liable for the entire amount of the media deal to the other schools for the original term of that contract. Iowa State, Texas Tech, etc. will never let that go. They will squeeze every possible nickel from Oklahoma.
