Being battle-ready is critical.

Sure, rankings matter a lot, but you can't out-strategize the ranking system by playing a weak schedule, because it relies so heavily on RPI. I could absolutely CARE LESS about the regular season ACC title (even considering ACC tournament seeding), so again, no strategic reason for a weaker schedule there (and no way to influence the conf schedule). The ACC tourney is another matter. We want that trophy, and we want those wins leading into the NCAA selection show.

Play the best so that by the end of the season you're ready to beat the best!
