A couple of ways to look at that...


Yep, Duke has an easy path - no doubt about that.

BUT....because Coach Pete knew Duke and Notre Dame weren't going to be on the ACC schedule, he went out and scheduled some pretty good teams like Alabama and South Carolina.

From Berman's article: “That’s why we played the schedule we played, is to hopefully be where we are right now,” D’Amour said. “The nonconference [schedule] was to put us in a position to have an RPI [good enough] to host regionals."

So while VT may have a disadvantage on the ACC schedule, it might be an advantage when the NCAA bids come out. That higher RPI may equal hosting opportunity.
