Ah. If you want a demonstration in market value
Let the college players strike and see how that compares to say an NFL strike. The NFL collapses without its star players. Thats been proven. They have earned market value and its valid.
Now take college and let its star players or even all its players go on strike. Let this 8 mil QB recruit sit out. No one will blink an eye. Come Saturday Vol stadium will still be full and they will tune in to see the 3rd string guy play.
This is real world and real capitalism. An 18 yr old may think he makes college football but this would be a blunt lesson in how he is replaceable. He has not created real market value yet and it would show when the rubber hits the road.
Money is being paid to recruits because of their projected potential. Not their endorsement power. Its like signing a minor league baseball player. Next step is signing other college's players with no rules or regs. Is that a good thing too?
