In the beginning...(not to sound Biblical) VT will take its lumps and probably finish 6-6 most years. However, as VT gets used to the "SEC water," eventually things (i.e. recruiting, money, support staff, coaching staff, medical staff, facilities, etc.) should improve with time. Once VT enters into that period, then its record should increase on average over time to 7-5, 8-4, or 9-3. Heck VT could even afford to schedule a 13th regular season game @Hawai'i at various times to be played on Conference Championship Weekend.

Comparing VT to Vandy is probably a bad example for a couple reasons. First Vandy is private and VT is public. Second, Vandy has Ivy League-like academic standards and requirements that I believe it rarely bends on so future student-athletes can be admitted to the school. I'm not sure the same can be said for VT. Not that either way is right or wrong. It is what the individual school's have chosen to be their policy and both are willing to like with the consequences.
