I just don't want the SEC to completely dominate it in the way they will if there are no limits.

But back to your premise that more teams make a better playoff. Since we've had a playoff, there have never been more than 3 (out of 4) teams who had a shot at winning it in any given year...usually only two. If you add more teams, you get more blowouts, not to mention the college season could go to 16 or 17 games for teams that make the finals.

I also loathe giving any team a bye in any tournament. That includes the ACC BB tournament. Byes have one purpose, to prevent upsets. Byes in the NCAA Football playoff will have a snowball chance in heck of making the playoff more exciting. Lets say you have a team like UCF who makes it through two tough games to face Alabama. Bama will beat them 100+ to 0, and I'm being generous.
