because it is either confusing or the subject matter is not that interesting to them. Some may even have a shorter attention span, so they rely on sound bites or blurbs to base their opinions on. For example, when you say "NCAA," most people think of the small administrative body that is responsible for the daily operations. Not the members (aka schools) which have the bigger impact on the rules and bylaws the schools agree to play by within all 3 division levels. I am not suggesting there is a right or wrong way to approach a subject matter because everyone has different personal preferences.

Personally, I find the politics within the "NCAA" (the organization as a whole) and the various bylaws fascinating because the NCAA kinda mirrors how the US Congress is structured and functions with its terms and various committees. So I have taken the time to study up on the manuals (particularly the DI manual) over the years. I guess I want to better understand the NCAA so if I participate in conversations about the subject matter, then I am well informed and can carry on a hopefully intelligent and even thought provoking conversation.
