I am not sure what you don't understand about this because it is very simple. The NCAA did away with Division 1 and Division 1A, replacing them with P5 and G5 respectively. That is not going away so long as there is an NCAA to enforce it. It has nothing to do with any bowl, playoff or any other on-field activity. It is a conference designation.

As a P5 the Big-12 is entitled to the same thing and access as other P5 conferences are. What is confusing you? The playoff did not set up the P5 and G5, that is the NCAA.
