NCAA impact ends at the level of saying we are at the FBS level.

The FCS level is the old 1-AA designation.

Within the FBS level, it is all about contracts (conferences, bowls, playoffs, etc.). The designation of "P5" does not exist other than in a contract tied to the playoffs.
