Having lived in the 'softball world' for most of this century . . .
I would say that it's likely a much 'rougher' one than the lacrosse world. Generally speaking the kids (and parents) you see on the weekends are far less likely to drive Land Rovers than the lacrosse (or even volleyball for that matter) crowd. This is not to excuse any action by the new coach or to suggest that one group of girls should be treated any differently than another. I would say that softball is more like football or basketball when it comes to the aggressiveness of recruiting.
