Grass experts (the lawn type, not the smoking type)
There is an invasive grass starting to creep into my yard (picture is of my neighbor's yard) that is pretty fast spreading. I've noticed it in many of the yards in our subdivision too. I'm pretty anal about keeping weeds/invasive species out of my yard, but this one is proving tough with both neighbors having it in their yards.
I live about 70 miles west of Blacksburg in Bluefield. My plant hardiness zone is 6B. The grass in question is the lime/light green seen in the photo below. It has broad leaves and is coarse. Our yards in the neighborhood are all fescue. Does anyone know what type of grass this is that is invading the yards? My first thought was it's a Dasslisgrass (weed) but I'm not sure. A coworker said it was an Orchard Grass, but this grass seems too invasive and spreads too quickly to be that. I don't think it's crabgrass as there are small patches of that in the yards and it's very distinguishable from the other grasses.
