Starting a bit late, especially when seeding with KBG
as you needed to get that down a month ago. Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG) can take up to 4 weeks to germinate, which puts you into/after the average first frost date for this region. This will limit your root growth prior to winter and decrease the success rate of your overseeding efforts. You may want to look at seeding with a Turf Type Tall Fescue (TTTF) or TTTF/KBG mix vice all KBG.
Something along these lines:

KBG also requires a lot more care and feeding throughout the growing season (fertilizing, irrigation, etc.) compared to TTTF, so if you don't have time to dedicate to these activities, I'd definitely look to overseed with a TTTF grass seed.
One additional tip
Pick up some Milogranite organic fertilizer from Home Depot / Lowes. It's inexpensive and great to use when overseeding and throughout the growing season (next year).
Once spring hits, you'll need to get down a good pre-emergent, such as the Lesco Crabgrass Control:

This will greatly reduce your weed pressure throughout the growing season.
