I've overseeded every fall and i haven't had good luck the last couple of

years. Even with aerating right before. Maybe i didn't water enough, but i didn't feel like i ever got good soil contact .

It felt like the seed just laid on top of the grass/crabgrass and got eaten by the wildlife or washed away. I felt that maybe if i seeded and then throw some top soil all over the yard that it might force it down and protect it better. I also didn't do a great job of dethatching before overseeding and that probably was the cause.

But after reading the comments on here and elsewhere, it seems like i should just leave the crabgrass to die on its own and not bother with any herbicide now.
