I thatched over the last 2 weeks.

Moved into the house in the spring, had first child in spring, yard went to the weeds.

Have about .6 acres of grass, so doing half this year half next. Thatched heavily the last 2 weekends before the rain last week- got rid of so much weeds (8 yard trash cans and 6 large heavy duty contractor bags). Unfortunately, also realized that the previous owners had laid cheap sod so that while thatching- I was pulling up entire pieces of sod. Seeded last night- hopefully the seed takes quickly. My challenge is that they sodded because it's a high water flow area due to the slopes in the yard- heavy rain will wash it all out and then I'll have to sod which I REALLY don't want to do. Hopefully it will all start to root lightly in next week- and then I might drop more seed (simply because of how much I removed).
