Syracuse packed its bags and bailed on the Big East as fast as it could.

Obviously, Syracuse and Pitt are connected through Big East and beyond. (It's a rivalry in the same sense that Virginia Tech-Boston College is a rivalry, i.e., the teams have played regularly and occasionally had meaningful games but neither fan base gets terribly worked up about the other.) But the fans of neither of those schools would put the other among its top two or three biggest rivals.
