The only way N-S can work is if the ACC expands to 16 members

and makes the dividing line the VA-NC border. The drawbacks to the N-S model is it would force the "South's Oldest Rivalry" to become an annual protected cross-division game. Maybe the only protected cross-division game which would create quarks in the schedule rotation (i.e. UVA and UNC wouldn't get to play the other teams in division as frequently as their co-division mates). Also, it would give the South a recruiting advantage in the hotbed states.
