True, but look at the SEC when it expanded to 12 teams

In the 90s and maybe early 00s, the East dominated with UF, UGA, and UT. Now it has swung over to the West with 'bama, LSU, Auburn, and (maybe TAMU). It is impossible to have perfectly balanced divisions year after year. Heck even decades after decades assuming you factor in the ebb and flow between division strength. So a conference basically has no choice but to go with either a strict geographic division or equal representation division (if using a zipper model) and let the chips fall where they may.

If the ACC wanted to swap another pairing, then the only 1 it could do is FSU-Miami. Yes, the Clemson-FSU rivalry won't be an annual game anymore. However, how strong is that rivalry really since it didn't take root until the "Bowden Bowl?" If the Clemson-FSU is really that strong now, then it is exactly what the CCG needs (assuming both teams qualify). It could make the "must see game" to watch instead of the Big Ten CCG or whatever other CCGs that are scheduled in the same time slot.
