If Syracuse didn't insist it play BC and Pitt every year and Pitt didn't

say the same thing about Syracuse, then why didn't the divisions look like this afterwards?

Atlantic/Coastal
BC-Syracuse
Pitt-VT
UMD-UVA
Wake-Duke
NC State-UNC
Clemson-GT
FSU-Miami

Or if VT was willing to swap divisions, then the ACC could have looked like this:

Atlantic/Coastal
BC-Syracuse
Pitt-UMD *insisted it play UVA every year back when the the ACC expanded to 12
VT-UVA
Wake-Duke
NC State-UNC
Clemson-GT
FSU-Miami

All I am suggesting is there is a reason BC ended up be a division foe for Syracuse instead of a protected cross-division foe. If the BC-Syracuse rivalry is as huge as everyone claims it is, then they would have ended up being cross-division foes and Syracuse wouldn't have cared about not getting to play Pitt every year.

I found the link on Pitt Panthers football website. Please note the opener to the storyline, "Longtime eastern rivals Pitt and Syracuse will meet for the first time as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference when the Panthers visit the Carrier Dome on Saturday."

From Syracuse's perspective, here is something else that may be worthy of note:

BC-Syracuse football rivalry: 46 games plays (FWIW Holy Cross is the only school to play BC more than Syracuse)
Penn State-Syracuse football rivalry: 69 games (most of any Syracuse's rivals)
Pitt-Syracuse football rivalry: 67 games (second most for Syracuse and third most for Pitt) and has spilled over into bball in recent years
Syracuse-WVU football rivalry: 60 games (Ben Schwartzwalder Trophy)
